I had two bottles of Sweet Baby Ray's sauce in my pantry....one was 18 oz, the other was 28 oz. If you only use half a bottle, I wasn't sure half of the smaller one would be enough. My pork shoulder was 2 lbs 10 oz. I'd rather have too much sauce than not enough, so I went with half of the bigger bottle. We definitely had waaaay too much sauce! Next time I'll use the smaller bottle. Also, I cooked it on high for five hours rather than low, and it wasn't fall-apart-tender...still took some work to shred it...but it was fully cooked. So I would recommend cooking on high, or for 7-8 hours on low. Anyway, thanks for the recipe! :)Erica Essernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7308600452665644986.post-6770151460191538002014-10-07T10:00:52.724-05:002014-10-07T10:00:52.724-05:00I just seen a recipe using coke and a recipe using...I just seen a recipe using coke and a recipe using root beer.. I am going to have to go easy on the lowrys because my husband doesn't do much salt but I bet I can make up some flavor with some minced garlic and onion, some Head Country BBQ sauce (if you haven't had Head Country, you haven't had BBQ sauce!), and a small bottle of coke. Maybe evens touch of brown sugar to keep that caramelization going. Yep, I'm gonna get a pork butt roast tomorrow to make for Thursday night. My mouth is watering.
