Sweet Asian Chili Crab Rangoon Pizza

Wow! This pizza is amazing. Unique and fun and downright delicious.
If you love a traditional crab rangoon then you better make this soon!

A few weeks back I was grocery shopping walking by the salad dressings and I grabbed a bag of croutons {the kids love Caesar salad, we have it almost weekly} and right next to the croutons were a bag on wonton strips.

I immediately dreamt up this pizza.

Like, immediately.

In my head I thought a creamy, garlicky, crab filled base spread onto a thin pizza crust, topped with mozzarella cheese, green onions, those fun wonton strips that would be baked until bubbly and drizzled with sweet Asian chili sauce.

Such a mouthful right?

This fun pizza comes together in under 20 minutes. I love that it's a fun change up to your normal pizza night, but I also love that it can easily be cut into smaller squares and shared by a crowd for appetizer night.

It can be served piping hot out of the oven, but it can also be served at room temp on a platter for a crowd.

Now, if I were to make homemade crab rangoons at home this pizza topper would be the EXACT same filling I'd use in those {just a side note in case you want to make those!}. It's incredibly simple - just cream cheese, garlic, green onions, salt and crab meat.

I chose the route of buying a thin store bought crust at the grocery store, but of course you can make your own. This recipe right HERE is our favorite homemade dough. You can keep it thick in a cast iron skillet or press it thin on parchment paper. Either way that recipe makes enough for two pizzas.

To bake this pizza I do recommend baking it on parchment paper on the bottom rack of your oven at a high heat for just a short amount of time. That allows the crust to get nice and crispy.

When I tested this recipe it took exactly 15 minutes {could even go a bit shorter} at 450 degrees.

Oh man when this pizza came out of the oven I could not wait to sink my teeth into it! When you pull it out of the oven you'll want to top it with some additional wonton strips {for crunch}, more sliced green onions {for flavor} and a healthy drizzle of sweet Asian chili sauce {for sweetness}.

And let me tell you right now, do NOT skimp out on that sweet Asian chili sauce.

In my mind it makes the pizza! Right behind that delicious crab. With all the savories of this pizza I felt it needed a sweet bite at the end. And remember, anytime we eat crab rangoons at a Chinese restaurant, what do we dip them in?

Sweet & Sour Sauce! Yes, that glorious pink sauce. You are welcome to drizzle that over the pizza, but I opted for sweet Asian chili sauce as I feel it has more flavor {find it right in the Asian aisle by all the sauces}.
