Peanut Butter Cup Chocolate Poke Cake

The ultimate sinful cake is here! Loaded with chocolate and peanut butter and lots of love.

This post is sponsored by AE Dairy, but all opinions are my own.

Sometimes you just need a good cake to get you through a busy week! Nothing beats a sweet, sinful bite after dinner when it’s been a busy day.

Last week was Homecoming for us and with two kids in high school and one kid in middle school, the number of activities we had on our schedule was a bit insane – but always fun! Between football and volleyball + parades, skits, dress up days and not to mention the big DANCE with dates, it was a very full week.

But we had this cake to come home to after – which made the end of the day feel like a treat!

AE Dairy and I wanted to feature their chocolate milk – which is always a staple at our house. I try and never let it run out!

It is like reliving your childhood drinking this milk. Every person in our family – all 5 of us – love this milk. I often tell people it’s like drinking melted chocolate ice cream, it really is that rich and creamy. We love the whole milk variety (it also comes in 2% and skim). It’s a great addition to any breakfast or an after-workout snack. One cup has 8 grams of protein!

On top of having an ice cold glass of this milk, I also use it in baking. This week it’s cake! But I’ve also used it in my Chocolate Croissant Breakfast Bake and my kid approved Dirt Cups.

Have you ever made a poke cake?

They are incredibly easy and have just a few simple steps. You bake the cake as normal (in this case replacing the water with AE Dairy’s chocolate milk) and then let it cool. Once cool you “poke” holes all over the cake. This creates little pockets for the next layer to seep into.

In this case that “seepy” layer is a combination of peanut butter and sweetened condensed milk.

After spending some time in the fridge, you then layer on the topping – whipped cream folded into some of that leftover filling. It creates a sweet fluffy layer on the top.

Once all the layers have been added you pop this cake bake in the fridge to set up a bit and patiently wait until it’s time to dive in.

If you have any peanut butter and chocolate fans in your house, tell them to prepare themselves. This one is magical.

It’s rich and creamy, yet light and fluffy all at the same time. I personally think it gets better the longer it sits in the fridge.

This cake may become a birthday staple, or a holiday staple. Once people have it, they never forget it! It’s the perfect cake to make for any occasion. It’s very forgiving and can be kept cold for days in the fridge only getting better.

Have a party to go to?

BRING IT.
