These cheesy sliders are FULL of flavor!
Salty ham, a touch of cayenne pepper and pimentos...YUM.

I have an unofficial rule in my head that it isn't Spring around here until golf courses open back up for the season {or you are at least able to play with just a light jacket...some crazies will play in the snow}.

I was raised playing golf and continued throughout high school where my school's team was exceptionally good for many, many years.  My junior year we won the State Championship. It was a blast and is certainly a memory I will carry with me forever.

Two weekends ago it was gorgeous out and the Masters was on T.V.  If you are not a golf fan this is the tournament of all tournaments for professional players held in Augusta, Georgia every April.  It kicks off the season and I love watching it.  I know 95% of the world's population finds watching golf on T.V. extremely boring, but I'm not one of them.

The Masters tournament is known for keeping it's quaint small town charm over this four day weekend and people flock from all around the world to watch.  My parents and my sister and her husband have been there in previous years and one of the very first things I asked them when they got back was if they tried their famous "Pimento Cheese sandwich".

Of course they did...we are a food family!

This iconic sandwich only costs $1.50 at the tournament, such a bargain!  No one really knows how this became the signature taste of the tournament, but no one really argues about it either.

So as I was watching the tourney that weekend this sandwich came to mind.  Then sliders came to mind.  Then salty ham.  Then putting it all together and baking it in the oven came to mind.  A genius idea.

Now you can make the pimento cheese spread and eat it as a dip {which is fabulous} and trust me you will have leftovers to do that, but spreading it on a base of Hawaiian Sweet Rolls before layering it with ham, really just does take it over the top.

The melted cheese, the spice from the cayenne and hot sauce and the crunch from the pimento peppers makes this baked sandwich competely different than any other baked ham and cheese in your recipe box.

Do you see these sandwiches just SITTING in that pool of cheese?  It's incredible.  If anyone emails me complaining about the swimming pool of cheese they are sitting in I will immediately delete and block them.

I do not have time for cheese haters.

Or sandwich haters for that matter {you know those people who claim to never eat bread}.

I enjoy both carby foods and it's my job to tell you about them.

So make these for your next party!

Ham and Pimento Cheese Sliders

Print this Recipe!

8 oz. shredded Colby Jack cheese
2/3 c. mayo
4 oz. pimento peppers, drained
1 T. dried minced onion
1/2 t. cayenne pepper
2 t. hot sauce
8 slices of deli ham
1 pkg. King's Hawaiian Sweet Rolls
1/2 stick unsalted butter
1 t. garlic powder
1 t. onion powder

1.  In a bowl combine the shredded cheese, mayo, peppers, dried minced onion, cayenne and hot sauce.  Stir to combine.
2.  Grease an 8x8 baking dish.  Remove the rolls from the package and using a serrated knife cut the entire block of rolls in half horizontally.  Place the bottom half of the buns in the greased dish.
3.  Spread the pimento cheese {you will not use all of it} on the rolls, then layer with the slices of ham.  Top with the other top half of the buns.
4.  In a microwavable dish melt the butter.  Stir in the garlic and onion powder.  Brush this mixture over the tops of the buns.
5.  Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes.  Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 5 minutes before slicing.  Serve warm.
