Eggnog Cookies

All the flavors of eggnog in a cookie!
These are soft and slightly spices, plus they jazz up a holiday dessert platter.

Eggnog Cookies

I wanted to give you a fun new cookie before my BIG holiday series kicks off on Tuesday! If it is your first time around these parts set an alarm to check back in on December 1st {and for the remaining 11 days after} as this year is my 5th Annual 12 Days of Holiday Giveaways.

It's exactly like it sounds - I give away a TON of stuff! Each day I feature a company and/or product and then turn around and sprinkle all the fun onto you. It's a super popular holiday series that has grown big over the years, so stay tuned.

But before we get to that - it's cookie time!

Eggnog Cookies

Honestly, I don't remember drinking eggnog growing up. I'm not sure why? I'm guessing it just wasn't something my Mom bought during the holidays.

Several years back I became a Brand Ambassador with Kalona SuperNatural in Kalona, Iowa. I use and love their dairy products {so creamy and rich and just fabulous} and low and behold last year they sent me their eggnog.

Well there was no turning back after that!

It's incredibly rich and thick and full of cinnamon and nutmeg flavor. I immediately started putting it in my morning coffee as a creamer {if you haven't tried this, put it on your holiday to do list}.

Eggnog Cookies

One morning while drinking my coffee I dreamt up these Eggnog Cookies. I mean, why not put eggnog in the batter?

Seemed like a good idea to me! So I got to work. These are the perfect cookies to make if you have just a small bit of eggnog left in the fridge. Just a half of a cup gives these cookies an underlying creamy, nutmeg flavor. It's not overwhelming - yet it's perfect.

And to pump up the volume a bit, don't forget to add the holiday sprinkles! My 6 year old added them to mine. It got a bit messy, I'm sure I'll be sweeping up sprinkles for months....but she had fun.

Eggnog Cookies

These perfect drop cookies are soft and tender and with the small bit of cream of tarter in the dough, it also makes them a bit chewy in the middle.

The eggnog, additional cinnamon and nutmeg really bring out the holiday flavors in this one - they will make people go, "what kind of cookie is this again?". Be prepared to share the recipe, people will ask for it.

These are great fresh out of the oven and stay good for a few days in a covered container, but they also freeze really well too. If you are like me I bake cookies all December long and freeze most along the way. Then when we go somewhere or just want a treat, I pull out a few samples for everyone to share.

Eggnog Cookies

I can't wait to see you make my Eggnog Cookies!

Snap a photo and be sure to tag me on social media {@sweetsavoryeats} - I'll share the love! And until then, tune in the first two weeks of December for my holiday giveaways. I'm certain you'll enjoy the fun.

Multiple Ways to Make Thanksgiving Stress Free with Hy-Vee

Thanksgiving is looking different this year, but that doesn’t mean we have to lose our special traditions. Here are 5 ways to keep those Thanksgiving memories alive with Hy-Vee.

This is a sponsored blog post; while the views expressed here were genuinely mine,

compensation was paid to me by Hy-Vee.

AD. Multiple Ways to Make Thanksgiving Stress Free with Hy-Vee #HyVee

With so many families not hosting big Thanksgiving dinners this year, it has made us all rethink our big feasts. We still want all the family traditions - the turkey, mashed potatoes and variety of pies - but we may have to do it a bit different.

Many of us traditionally travel to parents and grandparents {who handle all the big items} and we just bring a side dish to share - but this year a lot of us are being faced with the thoughts of making a full meal BY OURSELVES.

Don’t stress!

If this year has taught us anything, it is to take some help where we can get it. In this case, we all know Hy-Vee can cook up a storm, so why not take some help from them?

Hy-Vee’s Aisles Online is here to help us! Browse and fill your cart now with all the Thanksgiving essentials. Work in batches - add items to your cart as you think of them! That is the brilliance of online shopping. Everything is saved in your cart for easy access so you can check and double check your list before scheduling a pick up or delivery.

Make sure to also download the Aisles Online App to load digital coupons, see what’s on sale, rack up Fuel Saver rewards to save money on gas and best of all, shop from anywhere.

Buy a Ham, Get a Turkey - did you hear that? Hy-Vee is once again running their annual deal through November 30. You get a FREE 10 to 14 lb. frozen turkey with the purchase of a Hormel Cure 81 whole boneless ham.

Hy-Vee chefs are also always around to help. They have prepared a number of recipes and tips which you can find on their website. No need to create your own, they’ve already tested the great ones!

Now, what if you are saying, “Ally, I don’t want to stress about cooking AT ALL this year”. That’s okay. Hy-Vee has you covered!

Go ahead and order one of their Holiday Meal Packs. They do the work, you eat well. Many families prefer the Meal Packs so they can not only save money, but also to save time. Instead of fretting over making a meal, these prepared meals give you more time to relax, watch the Thanksgiving Day parade or catch the big football game.

AD. Multiple Ways to Make Thanksgiving Stress Free with Hy-Vee #HyVee

This year, Hy-Vee is offering Holiday Meal Packs for 2, 4, 6 or more. For example, you can get a ham or turkey dinner that serves 4, with sides, rolls, gravy and a dessert for less than $50. What a deal!

Other options available: Brunch for 2, 4 or 6. Prime Rib Dinners, Bakery Bundles and other Gourmet options. Easy online ordering lets you customize your dinner, then all you have to do is reheat the meal according to directions.

Even if you don’t want to order a FULL meal - go ahead and take a little help with their dessert trays, charcuterie boards or fruit & veggie trays. Ease some of the work, so you can focus on what is important.

And let’s not forget, the day after Thanksgiving is still Black Friday!

AD. Multiple Ways to Make Thanksgiving Stress Free with Hy-Vee #HyVee

The perfect holiday gift for Hy-Vee is the Black Friday gift card promotion. On November 27th only shoppers can receive a $20 Hy-Vee gift card when you spend $150 in select gift cards. Available in store only.

This is a great day to stock up on gift cards for teenagers, college students and for those family members who you won’t see this year during the holidays. Everyone loves the joy of a gift card!

Hy-Vee has us completely covered for Thanksgiving, don’t you think?

3-Step Crockpot Mashed Potatoes

Pinned over 30K times these 3-Step Crockpot Mashed Potatoes are everyone's favorite.
Great for a weekend side, even better during the busy holidays, make these soon!

3-Step Crockpot Mashed Potatoes

This recipe has gone BANANAS on this blog since 2016. It's a heavy favorite during the holidays, especially Thanksgiving when all of America is making mashed potatoes. We all want this creamy and dreamy side dish, but we don't want to be stuck standing at the stove right up to the big meal.

Instead I created this super easy way to make mashed potatoes ahead of time so they can sit on warm in the crockpot waiting and still taste great when it's time to sit down and eat.

These buttery spuds are delicious!

3-Step Crockpot Mashed Potatoes

Let's be real mashed potatoes are pretty much a year around thing in our house. We eat them at least once a month - with meatloaf, ribs, steaks or any baked chicken dish.

Pretty much the ultimate comfort food.

Growing up my Mom always, always, always made homemade mashed potatoes. It was a staple with her delicious roast beef and to be honest I never even knew instant potatoes were a THING until I had them at a friend's house.

I turned up my nose.

3-Step Crockpot Mashed Potatoes

Real deal mashed potatoes are much better than their cheaper, side kick cousin. Plus once you've made them - they are easy! Minus the 10 minutes of prep needed to peel and wash them, there really is no work involved.

Using the crockpot in this recipe allows you to do other things - in the case of  it being the holidays - work on all the other side dishes, main meats and desserts.

Or perhaps clean the house?

3-Step Crockpot Mashed Potatoes

I add butter {of course}, milk, Parmesan cheese {it gives the mashed potatoes a sharp, nutty flavor} and cream cheese to these taters. The cream cheese gives them a smooth depth without making them over cheesy. I think this combo tastes great!

But always, if your family likes other cheeses or even flavored soft cheeses instead of plain cream cheese, then by all means!

In other words - make these your own, but keep the basics the same.

3-Step Crockpot Mashed Potatoes

And since most of us are eating holiday meals with more than just our immediate family this batch serves a crowd - I usually say around 12 adult servings.

So more if you are just feeding littles!

I have not attempted on doubling the recipe {I'm sure someone will ask}, so I cannot say for sure how that turns out, but I'm guessing it would work fine. You would just need to add some cook time since the crockpot would be extra full with more potatoes.

3-Step Crockpot Mashed Potatoes

I cannot wait to see these mashed potatoes grace your holiday tables!

They are deliciously creamy and full of flavor. People WILL ASK FOR THE RECIPE, so consider yourself warned. Maybe print off the recipe below and take some copies with you?

Just trying to keep you prepared.

Be sure to tag me on social media {@sweetsavoryeats} when you make these! I'll be sure to share the love on my pages as well.
