Here is a fun twist on the original puppy chow - lets do a caramel apple version!
It's sweet, salty, crunchy and fun.
I love, love, love this new recipe!
I'm going to assume you've all had a bite or two of the original "puppy chow" recipe where Rice Chex cereal gets coated in melted peanut butter and chocolate, then tossed in powdered sugar, right?
If not, that recipe is a gem too.
BUT, this version - it screams all things Fall! Hints of apple cider, cinnamon, caramel and a sweet powdered sugar coating.
Just seven ingredients are needed for this dandy - Rice Chex cereal, white chocolate chips, caramel bits, dry apple cider mix, cinnamon, butter and powdered sugar.
You're going to want to print this one off and tuck it in a corner cabinet as you'll be making it for years. My kids kept swinging by while it was "cooling" sneaking bites. It was quickly given an A+ by all of them.
I'm imagining taking it to football games, tailgating parties, Fall potlucks and more.
The butter, caramel bits and white chocolate chips melt down into a thick, buttery caramel sauce that you pour over all the Rice Chex cereal.
THEN, the magic ingredient to give it that tangy apple cider flavor is to sprinkle a dry apple cider mix all over the cereal and mix it together with the caramel.
And then of course top it all with fluffy powdered sugar and give t a good shake.
This tray is the perfect size to make for anything this Fall....class party? Girls night? Halloween fun? Family reunion?
They'd all be great.
It's just enough fun sweetness for a gathering yet not too much that you're grabbing handfuls for a week off the kitchen counter.
