  3. Taco Pie posted early-sounds delicious. We buy our salsa @ Costco so it is in a quart or bigger jar. How many cups in your salsa jar?

  4. Hello Ally,

My name is Natasha Sayles and I am the Executive Director of Winefest. The Des Moines Wine Festival Foundation is proud to have been a part of the Greater Des Moines area since 2003 and we look forward to our fourteenth year of celebrating fine food and wine while bettering the community. Winefest’s signature weeklong series of events has grown into one of Des Moines’ most anticipated weekends of the year. Besides supporting the wine and culinary industry, Winefest has raised more than $400,000 for local charities and cultural organizations. Unique events such as Winefest help to improve our community’s cultural landscape and help to earn Des Moines its national accolades for quality of life.

We recognize your outreach in the community through your blog, Ally’s Sweet and Savory Eats. It would be an honor to have Winefest be a part of it. We would like to offer you two complimentary tickets to our Meredith Saturday Sessions, An Afternoon on the Plaza, which includes both the Summer Fire and Local Treasures, National Masters sessions. In addition, we would like to offer you two Afternoon on the Plaza tickets to giveaway to your followers.

Our Meredith Saturday Sessions feature two unique workshops, each offering an opportunity to work and learn alongside professional and celebrity chefs. Please find specific information on each session below:

    Summer Fire
    • Join us as we cook from the June Issue of Better Homes and Gardens with Greg and Gabi Denton, owners of OX Restaurant in Portland, Oregon. Greg and Gabi will demonstrate their take on recipes prepared on a sizzling summer fire. Gather “around the fire” to hear Greg and Gabi’s story of success and thoughts on the latest food trends, while enjoying samples from their magazine feature and sipping on a delightful wine pairing. Following their session, you will have the opportunity to purchase their new book Around the Fire.

    Local Treasures, National Masters
    • Herb and Kathy Eckhouse, owners of La Quercia in our own Norwalk, Iowa are ready to delve into how their travels to Parma, Italy inspired a local Iowa prosciutto business that has grown into a nationwide sensation. Gain an introduction to how different meats are cured around the world and enjoy delectable samples of meat with the perfect cheese and wine pairing.

    Afternoon on the Plaza
    • Join us for both of our daytime Meredith Saturday Sessions, Summer Fire and Local Treasures, National Masters, and receive access to the Meredith Test Garden in between sessions. Wine will be available for sale by the glass.

Again, it would be wonderful to get Winefest involved with your blog, Ally’s Sweet and Savory Eats, so we hope you consider the opportunity.
