Strawberry Banana Cottage Cheese Smoothie Bowl

The heat of Summer has arrived, and nothing beats it like a cold treat – or in this case a healthy treat! My new Strawberry Banana Cottage Cheese Smoothie Bowl is perfect for breakfast or a midday snack.

This post is sponsored by AE Dairy, but all opinions are my own.

Everyone loves a cold treat in the dead heat of Summer, but what if you could have a cold treat that is also healthy?

My new smoothie bowl has the added benefits of protein packed AE Dairy cottage cheese, which gives it a smooth, creamy texture – one of my kids even said, “it tastes like a milkshake”!

Honestly, I told them I couldn’t agree more.

AE Dairy and I wanted to show how easy it is to incorporate their cottage cheese into yet another recipe – that makes people go…. wait, does that really work?

Remember I’ve made my Cottage Cheese Berry Cheesecake Bars (also great for Summer) and my Cheesy Spinach Dip (perfect for parties) – both with a base of cottage cheese that literally NO ONE would ever guess.

It’s so fun sneaking it into unexpecting dishes!

This smoothie bowl serves one and has 20 grams of protein!

It’s a generous helping that will keep you full until lunch – OR – if you have very hungry teenagers like me, it’s a great mid-afternoon snack for them when they are on the go in between activities.

If you could have been a fly on my wall when I made this – imagine three different spoons digging in for bites after I took the photos and gave them the “all clear”.

AE Dairy’s Old Fashioned small curd, 4% cottage cheese is considered one of their most beloved products. It’s rich and creamy, made with whole milk and has 12 grams of protein in just one half of a cup.

I decided to go with the classic “strawberry and banana” combination for this smoothie bowl, but honestly any frozen fruit variety can be used. Peaches would also be fabulous!

By using frozen fruit, then you do not have to add any ice to the mix – which helps keeps down the water content and makes for a rich and creamy smoothie.

Feel free to add any fun toppings you like to this – your favorite granola, any type of fruit, peanut butter, chia seeds, nuts, coconut, etc. The options are endless!

Try incorporating this smoothie bowl into your morning routine, we’d love to see your photos. Please tag myself (@sweetsavoryeats) and AE Dairy (@aedairy) and we’ll be sure to share your creations.
