Right after food, I love reading books. I often get asked for recommendations and I love sharing them. I've decided to put together my Top 10 beachy reads for Summer.
I've read every one of them and think you should too!
Over the years I've chatted lots and lots of food, but I've also chatted lots and lots of books (especially on Instagram). And for the third Summer in a row my newsletter followers also get access to my Summer Book Club series! It's fun and harmless and people love it.
Recently I've been receiving many requests for Summer book reads, because lets face it - we all look a good beachy romance in the Summer! Nothing beats a book, a cocktail and watching the water lap the shore.
One of my favorite things in the world!
The next 10 books are all ones I've read and adored, so therefore I'm telling you to read them as well. Love a classic love story? A complicated one? A funny one? A very untraditional one? There are all right here. Scroll on through and pick your next read.
One Golden Summer - I'm almost finished with this one and upon the first few chapters knew it had to be put on this list. It pulled me in very quick! If you love lake life, lazy Summers, stories about family generational cabins and chances at love during the quick Summers months then you'll adore this one.
Happy Place - a couple who broke up 5 months ago pretend to be together for their annual weeklong vacation with their best friends. I mean, what couldn't go wrong? They can't bare to break the news to their friends during vacation so they fake it to the best of their abilities. Do you think it works?
Summer Darlings - filled with 1960's nostalgia, Heddy leaves her Brooklyn neighborhood to nanny for one of Martha's Vineyards wealthiest families. She grows enamored with the life, nurtures a Summer romance, but also finds out that this picture perfect setting does not always equal happiness.
The Paper Palace - Elle, a 50 year old happily married mother of 3 finds herself at the cabin she has spent every Summer of her life - torn between an old childhood love and her husband. You get a glimpse back into their childhood and what really happened and then back to this day where she has to arrive at the ultimate decision that is very complex.
Malibu Rising - set in Malibu in 1983, four famous siblings throw an epic "end of the Summer party" but over the course of 24 hours family drama ensues that will change their life forever. By midnight the party is pure chaos and by early morning their mansion will have gone up in flames.
28 Summers - this one almost tore my heart out in the end, but is still one of my favorites. Set over the course of 28 years, Mallory and Jake explore the agony and romance of a one-weekend-a-year affair. Both captivating and bittersweet.
One True Loves - Emma marries her high school sweetheart only to lose him in a helicopter crash on their 1st anniversary. When trying to put her life back together, years later she finds herself falling in love again. That is until her husband is found...alive.
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo - what a wild ride this one is! Aging Hollywood icon, Evelyn Hugo, is ready to tell the truth about her glamourous and scandalous life. She asks a reporter to write her story. Told from the beginning in 1950's Los Angeles, you travel with her through relationships, friendships and forbidden love until she starts to get towards the end when her actual life intersects.
The Hating Game - now made into a movie, this fun and quirky book is the typical "hate each other, till they love each other" book. Forced to sit by each other and vie for their CEO's attention, Lucy and Josh refuse to back down when they compete for a new job. But as time goes on, things change.
Beach Read - literally called "Beach Read" I could not, not include this one! Two authors renting neighboring beach houses for three months both bogged down with writer's block, until one evening they strike a deal with each other to force them out of their creative ruts.
