Healthy 5-Ingredient Sherbet

Even though summer is still a long ways away, Spring has arrived and with that has brought some warm sunshine {and lately LOTS of rain}, but I am going to focus on the sunshine. Okay?

Warm temps make me think of cold foods.  And while browsing around Pinterest awhile back I saw some really easy recipes for homemade ice creams and sherbets.  As luck would have it I made this one morning and by later that day I was taking our three year old to urgent care due to a high fever and later diagnosis of strep throat.

Needless to say, this sherbet felt good on her throat the next day.

And did I mention it is healthy?  The only "bad" ingredient is 1 tablespoon of sugar and honestly that is nothing in my opinion for the whole loaf pan it made.  The frozen blackberries and banana sweeten it just enough.

Now blackberries are just what I had on hand in the freezer for this, but you can certainly use any frozen fruit you have in the freezer - strawberries, peaches, raspberries, etc.

I'm anxious to try other flavors.  The little man was enamored with "purple ice cream" as he called it.  Try different combos and see what you can come up with.  The possibilities are really endless!

  1. This sounds lovely! We live in Budapest part of the year and so we buy gelato on the street once the weather warms. We walk several block with groceries so it's not really practical to bring ice cream home. This however would work and I like the idea of banana for sweetness. Thanks for sharing and hope your new little one arrives soon!
