Everything you love about a good fried pickle dipped in ranch dressing, but in dip form!
This appetizer is easy to make and gets devoured quickly.
If you love dill pickles, then I'm guessing you've indulged in a fried pickle! Then are on almost every appetizer menu in America. Crispy breading around a tangy pickle dunked in homemade ranch dressing.
They are delicious!
Problem is, unless you are a cook in a restaurant, most would rarely make them at home. So, in an effort to solve that problem, I took all the flavors and instead put it in a dip.
Now, some pickle dips are very simple - BUT - I took this one up a notch. I wanted it to have that "fried" taste without technically being fried, so you'll see that I included French's Fried Onions in the mix. They give both the texture, flavor and taste of the fried coating you'd usually get on a fried dill pickle.
It also gives the dip a nice crunch!
It's fun to eat this dip with ruffled potato chips (they are sturdy), but it's also fun with any favorite crackers, or pretzel, even carrot sticks.
My girls both discovered it in the fridge after volleyball practice last night and they immediately gobbled a good helping down. They claimed I was hiding it from them, but rather like most kids they just overlooked it!
You are welcome to put any additions into this dip (bacon bits? chopped pecans?) but I opted to keep it traditional. Plus, the addition of Tajin (a classic chili lime Mexican seasoning) puts an added zip to it. If you don't have that on hand, a dash of hot sauce will do.
Between the crunch of the fried onions, the tangy zip of dill pickles and creamy cheese this dip will be a hit at any party!
I'm looking forward to see your pickle dip creations!
