Produce Haul

Minus the torrential downpour/straight line winds/sirens that were ear-numbing, my trip to the grocery store this afternoon wasn't too bad.

You'd be surprised how many shoppers took off when the storm came rolling in. Me? No, I wasn't about to leave a full cart of goodies. You have to have priorities. Some people save their purse, their children, I save my produce.

Pretty good haul. Does having fresh produce stockpiled just "make" you want to eat better? It does for me.

Today's stash consisted of:
apples
bananas
grape tomatoes
blueberries
sweet potatoes
baby red potatoes
carrots
kiwi
spinach
iceberg lettuce
broccoli

I think we are set for awhile. Some of this produce will be used in some new recipes this coming week. Think - spicy shrimp, tomato and sausage kabobs, chicken florentine pasta, and sweet potato fries.

My stomach is rumbling just thinking about it.

  1. I love, love, love shopping for produce! I'm patiently waiting for tomorrow morning because I am going to try out a farmer's market around here and see what I can come up with!!

  2. Produce is my favorite thing to shop for! When I get low, I run to the grocery store immediately. At least in the summertime...for some reason it's not as tempting for me to inhale the produce in the winter.

  3. I need to get a pretty big loot of fresh produce in order to gear up my excitement to eat it. But when I have great produce on hand I crave it and try to incorporate it in every meal! Num!
