15 of the Best Summer Burgers

It's burger time!
Here are my hand picked burgers of the Summer season.

For anyone that knows me, they know that when my birthday rolls around towards the end of Summer I almost always pick a good burger for my birthday dinner.

Burgers are a Summer staple!

Here I have hand picked 15 great Summer burgers. And in my personal opinion that includes all kinds of burgers - ones made with traditional beef of course, but also burgers made with ground pork, chicken or turkey.

Oh, and don't forget the TOPPINGS. That a whole 'nother story there. Here we go!

Hand holding a Spicy BBQ Chicken Burger with sliced tomato, pickles and bbq sauce.

By a landslide, these bbq chicken burgers get requested from my daughters a LOT. Ground chicken gets combined with onion and a chipotle pepper in adobo sauce (that right there is amazing). After getting grilled it gets topped with an incredible spicy bbq mayo.

Have you followed the craze of a smash burger? It's a thinly pressed burger that cooks quickly and gets incredible crunchy edges from the skillet. This version is then topped with a fun burger sauce and traditional lettuce, pickles and cheese.

Albeit, not traditional, these open faced "burgers" have been in our family for years. They are so simple to make often people look past them, but trust me you shouldn't! A ground beef, cheese, pizza sauce combo gets layered on open faced English muffins and topped with cheese. Kids love these!

Sweet Bacon Jam & Corn Relish Burgers on a wooden cutting board.

I created this fun Summer Iowa themed burger with the Iowa Beef Council. It's just screams the Midwest! The burger is fairly simple but you make a delicious sweet bacon jam & creamy corn relish to top them with. That trifecta is absolutely stellar.

Anytime I go to a restaurant if they have a burger topped with bacon and bleu cheese there is a 95% chance I'm ordering it. I absolutely love the tangy and salty combo. This one is a pork patty, with my favorite blue cheese and bacon topping + a tangy homemade Russian dressing.

Yep, you guessed it - this burger patty is made like meatloaf! The ground beef is mixed with crushed Ritz crackers, oatmeal, eggs, ketchup, etc. Sounds funny, but it works. Topped with seasonings and Parmesan cheese while grilling makes these super flavorful.

A hand holding a Sheet Pan BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger

The cheeseburger doesn't even need a grill! They cook on a sheet pan under the broiler. Barbecue seasoning gives them great flavor + they're topped with bacon and cheddar cheese. And very important, they cook on a ciabatta bun. A super juicy cheeseburger!

Ground pork and Asian flavors always pair so well together. Garlic, ginger, sesame oil and sauces make a delicious burger + a tangy coleslaw and sauce top the patty all sandwiched between a Brioche bun.

The trick to making a great turkey burger is keeping the patty moist (you don't want it to dry out!), so in this burger I added shredded apple plus it's juices and a little barbecue sauce. Those two ingredients make this burger! Topped with sharp cheddar cheese this is a burger you want to try.

Two hands holding a white plate with a Salsa Chicken Burger

This mexi-style burger is wait for it....made in the Instant Pot! Salsa, onion, corn and cilantro, all your favorite Mexican flavors are mixed into the chicken. To make it even more fun after cooking they are topped with sliced avocado and crumbled queso fresco cheese.

In the Summer we love beer brats on the grill, so why not make them into burger patties? Ground pork is combined with traditional sausage seasonings + these burgers get topped with caramelized onions.

If you love a meatball sub, you'll love these Italian burgers! There are directions to cooking these in the air fryer or in a skillet, both work great. I personally think the chunky marinara sauce and freshly melted mozzarella cheese + fresh basil toppings make this burger.
