The way to anyone's heart is a good cookie.
This peanut butter version studded with mini peanut butter M&M's is a new favorite!
People often ask how I come up with my recipes and while there are a variety of ways, more times than not I'll see an ingredient in the grocery store and my mind just immediately thinks of a way to use it.
A couple weeks back I was strolling the candy section (always a bad idea!) and I noticed mini peanut butter M&M's. Now my go to weakness at concession stands of my kid's games are peanut butter M&M's, but up until this day I had never seen a mini version!
I quickly threw that bag in my cart.
I wanted these cookies to have double of the peanut butter flavor - and they do! Creamy peanut butter + the addition of the mini peanut butter M&M's. And the cookie dough batter is supreme - all brown sugar (gives them a deep, rich flavor), course sea salt (adds to the depth and brings out the sweetness) and good quality vanilla extract (because every cookie needs vanilla!).
And why should you chill your cookie dough?
I believe in refrigerating cookie dough for at least one hour before baking. This will prevent the cookies from spreading too much in the oven as the butter is cold going into the oven, versus already warm.
No one likes a paper thin cookie!
I used my large cookie scoop for these (my kids are always begging for BIG cookies, so I indulged them this time). You can grab the one I use here for under $10.
Then the trick to getting these cookies nice, big, semi-flat and symmetrical is to lightly push them down before baking with the bottom of a glass cup. This way they aren't dome shaped when they come out of the oven.
If you are not up for browsing the grocery store aisles looking for these (new to me) mini peanut butter M&M's, you can order them here from Walmart, here from Target or here from Amazon. I've linked them all for you and saved you the work of searching for them.
This recipe makes 27 big cookies.
Enough for the family with extra to freeze or enough to give a friend or family member a little treat!
Who is going to try these first?
Be sure to tag me on Instagram so I can see your version (@sweetsavoryeats). I will share them on my platform!
In the meantime - be sure to be subscribed to my Sunday newsletter. There I share all my favorite recipes + what I'm reading, wearing, purchasing and more.

Is 2 T of vanilla correct? Thanks!

ReplyDeleteI once decided to bake similar cookies before friends arrived, but everything went awry: the oven overheated, the dough melted, and the water cooler suddenly ran out. I was frantically searching for my delivery service. Eventually, I went to https://primo-water.pissedconsumer.com/customer-service.html and ordered everything I needed. After that, I was able to finish mixing the dough without any problems and even enjoyed the process.

ReplyDeleteI love the idea of using the bottom of a glass to flatten them before baking—it's a great tip for getting that perfect chewy texture without them being too dome-shaped. Also, the double peanut butter combo with the minis sounds like a game changer for PB lovers! BestGames

ReplyDeleteThese peanut butter Mini M&M cookies look like such a fun family treat, especially with the bigger cookie size and the extra peanut butter flavor. Cookie texture can be easier to understand when written tips are paired with baking videos that show the dough consistency, chilling step, and how far to press the cookies before baking. If someone saves peanut butter cookie tutorials or dessert videos into one playlist, a baking video playlist time checker can help estimate the total watch time before starting.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a cheerful cookie recipe, and the story about spotting mini peanut butter M&M’s in the candy aisle makes it even more fun. For food bloggers or baking creators recording short recipe voiceovers, kitchen notes, or cookie tutorial clips, a small audio file size reducer can make those files easier to upload, store, or share while editing.
ReplyDeleteThese cookies look like the kind of treat kids would be excited to help with, especially the colorful mini M&M’s and the glass-press trick before baking. Since the dough needs time to chill, there is also a little waiting window before the cookies go into the oven. A short attention warmup or a quick keyboard challenge can be a light browser break while the dough rests.
ReplyDeleteThese cookies sound so fun, especially with the double peanut butter flavor from the creamy peanut butter and mini peanut butter M&M’s. I also like the practical tips about chilling the dough so the cookies do not spread too much and pressing them lightly with a glass for a more even shape. Before starting a baking recipe like this, I usually skim the full method first, and a quick recipe reading-time helper can be useful for checking how long the instructions will take to review.
ReplyDeleteI love the detail about chilling the dough for at least an hour before baking. That one step can make such a difference when you want thick cookies instead of thin, spread-out ones. Between dough chilling, scooping, pressing, baking, cooling, and freezing extras, a simple baking-time conversion helper can be handy when turning recipe timing notes into a cleaner kitchen plan.
