I have a solution.
If you like bananas, that is.
I've seen this recipe on various sites, and to be honest it looked a little too good to be true. One frozen ingredient turns into ice cream? No way.
So Saturday night as we were watching our Northern Iowa Panthers pummel the Kansas Jayhawks (yea!), I had this ice cream craving. I wasn't about to leave the house during the game...but I wanted ice cream.....when suddenly I remembered my frozen bananas in the freezer. So frozen banana soft serve it became.
Banana Soft Serve
1 frozen banana (yep, that is it!)

Peel frozen banana. I found it easiest to take a sharp knife and simply cut away the peel. Cut into 1 in. chunks and place in a food processor. Pulse to break up the chunks. When broken into small bits, then puree on full speed.

This has the consistency of soft serve ice cream, and all it is, is a banana! How simple and healthy. Even little man liked it. He wasn't so sure about how cold it was, but we alternated bites and it was devoured quickly!
What's your favorite kind of ice cream? Mine is definitely vanilla. But I love it mixed with good stuff. You know - cookie dough, chocolate chips, caramel, hot fudge.....the healthy stuff:)
Mint Chocolate Chip! The banana is such a great idea. Very healthy! Thanks for the tip!
ReplyDeletefrozen banana + cocoa powder + 1/2 avocado = Chocolate Explosion Pudding
ReplyDeletethe avocado makes it super creamy and more satisfying because of the fat in it.

I love doing that banana soft serve! It's so good with a dollop of PB and chocolate chips. Chocolate peanut butter icecream is my favorite if you can't tell :)
ReplyDeleteI have a hard time believing it's as good as ice cream as well, but hey - if it works, it works! I'm really in to the cappucino frozen yogurt at the moment. Tastes like coffee with chocolate bits all through it.
ReplyDeleteLove it! I buy the frozen banana slices in the frozen food section, and what I have done in the past is put those in a bowl, then add FF Cool Whip and SF chocolate syrup and nuts (and/or dark chocolate chips)...which is really good, too! Next time I will try pureeing the banana first!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog BTW! I am new, too :)

Mmmmmm. Some of the best ice cream is made out of bananas! ;)
ReplyDeleteI loooooove banana soft serve. I just bought a bunch of bananas... time to make this!
Mine never comes out that nice!! Maybe cause I use a blender?? My fave flavor is anything chocolate chocolate chocolate :).
ReplyDeleteWhat a good idea!!!
ReplyDeleteI remember the first time I made this I was IN AWE of how delicious it turned out. My favorite ice cream is chocolate or vanilla - but I like to go wild with the toppings. :-)
ReplyDeleteI make this too! Its really is just the best. I add protein powder and 2-3 ice cubes and just teeny bit of water. You get a DOUBLE serving this way with TONS more protein.
ReplyDeleteI peel the bananas before I freeze them too. It makes life soooo much easier!
This is interesting recipe, looks good !
