Puff Pastry Cream Cheese Danishes

How about a pretty breakfast or brunch treat?

These Puff Pastry Cream Cheese Danishes are easy and delicious.

This post is sponsored by the Iowa Egg Council.

Mother’s Day is on the horizon, and it’s time to spoil and celebrate moms! And not just this time of year when Spring hits {although it’s nice} - let’s spoil her throughout the year, shall we?

I have the best {and easiest!} sweet treat to make on this Mother’s Day. They look fancy and store-bought, but trust me when I say anyone can make them – not just the corner bakery! You can do this. With some help of frozen puff pastry, you can impress Mom with a breakfast she’ll remember for quite a long time.

I myself, a busy mom of 3, would love to wake up to this sweet treat. They are mouthwateringly good!

The Iowa Egg Council and I wanted to treat Mom on this special holiday. Moms are the best! We are often the ones holding the family together – both literally and figuratively – making school lunches, washing uniforms the night before a big game, rushing to dental appointments, planning dinner before lunch is even finished and giving hugs when things go awry.

These women deserved to be recognized!

When brainstorming ideas for this recipe, we wanted to showcase a sweet item that uses eggs and this one fits the bill – in a couple ways! Both in the filling and in the egg wash that makes these Danishes brown up beautifully while baking.

If you’ve never had puff pastry – well, it’s amazing.

Making your own is a bit time-consuming, so by all means grab a box in the frozen section at your local grocery store. It is just as good and delicious. This light and flaky pastry dough is made from layered dough and butter that is repeatedly folded and rolled out before baking. It creates tasty layers of buttery, melt-in-your-mouth deliciousness!

This recipe makes eight Danishes. And, by simply cutting the sheets of dough into squares and folding up the corners to create a diamond shape, it makes a small pocket to hold the slightly sweet cream cheese filling.

Because who doesn’t love a cream cheese filling?

I continue to partner with the Iowa Egg Council for so many reasons. 1) our family loves eggs, they are continually a part of our meal routine 2) we love the health benefits of eggs, they are nutrient rich – one large egg contains 6 grams of protein at just 70 calories; and 3) they are wonderful to work with – they truly care about working with influencers who love food just as much as they do.

And since moms are getting pampered today – it’s also important to let them know just how great eggs are for their kiddos. Eggs are an important first food for toddlers, as well as pregnant or lactating moms. Providing an excellent source of chlorine, which is nutrient critical for fetal brain development, eggs are a budget-friendly food to help feed your family.

Just look at those layers! It certainly is one delicious, flaky bite. My kids loved these. They stay fresh in an airtight container for a few days, as well. My kiddos also found out that a quick 10-second nuke in the microwave also makes these treats extra special.

Now I kept these plain {that sweetened cream cheese center really tastes like cheesecake!}, but you are welcome to add a dollop of your favorite jam as well. Most moms love fresh fruit, so I highly suggest serving some berries along side to make breakfast treat extra special.

And of course – add some scrambled eggs!

This breakfast will become a treat that moms will “hint” to and request each and every year.
