Fried Pickles with Buttermilk Ranch Dressing

Hey pickle and ranch lovers! Nothing beats this appetizer.

Try my new Fried Pickles with Buttermilk Ranch Dressing.

This post is sponsored by AE Dairy but all opinions are my own.

After many, many years of food blogging I’ve found most people either love or loathe pickles. The same can be said with olives, or sauerkraut or anything else that is tangy, salty with brine or fermented.

I happen to be in the LOVE category of all of those.

If you are like me then today is your lucky day. One of my favorite appetizers to order in restaurants is fried pickles. So why not try them at home?

AE Dairy agreed and we first decided fried pickles have to have a great dressing to get dunked in – so we came up with a Buttermilk Ranch Dressing using their lowfat buttermilk.

Their buttermilk is carefully crafted for over 24 hours to perfect that delightfully buttery taste. It is one of their products that is taste tested weekly by staff to ensure it’s just right for all consumers. Thick, tangy, sweet – it makes an ideal base for any creamy dressing.

In addition to the AE Dairy buttermilk, I added mayo, sour cream, plus tons of fresh and dried herbs. I made this first and stuck it in the fridge to let all the flavors come together.

Then it was time to start on the pickles!

The key to a great fried (anything) is to remove any excess liquid before dunking and dredging. That will help you get a nice crispy coating. So, in this case you’ll want to lay the pickle chips on a paper towel, then blot with another on top to remove all of the extra juice.

And finally – I took the easy route and “fried” mine in the air fryer. This is just my opinion, but it was much easier and I had way less clean up! Using an air fryer will still give you that crispy texture but without using any oil (minus a few squirts so they don’t stick).

But if you want to do them the old-fashioned way in hot oil, be my guest.

These turned out light and crispy. Pretty amazing. And after a dunk in the buttermilk ranch dressing? Perfection.

I cannot wait for you guys to try this one. Appetizer night for dinner? Watching the big game with friends? Want a “girl dinner” that is just fun?

  4. To make perfect fried pickles, pat them bone-dry, then "double-dredge" by tossing them in seasoned flour/cornmeal, dipping in a buttermilk-egg wash, and coating in flour again. Fry at 350°F until golden and serve with a tangy buttermilk ranch made of mayo, sour cream, buttermilk, fresh dill, and a splash of pickle juice for extra zing.

  5. Since the dip can be prepared in advance and stored in the fridge for several days, it’s perfect for events like parties, gatherings, Pokepath TD or even road trips. This make-ahead quality reduces last-minute preparation stress while still delivering a flavorful, satisfying snack.

  7. Food and games are a great combo — sharing a meal already brings people together, and adding a simple game makes the whole experience more relaxed and interactive. It gives everyone something to focus on, so conversations flow naturally. You can see a similar idea of structure on platforms like https://iran-embassy.org.uk/, where everything is organized in a clear way that keeps attention and makes interaction easier.

  10. I’ve been rotating between slots and live dealer games lately, trying to understand how pacing affects my decisions more than outcomes. Short sessions feel controlled, but once I extend play, it’s easy to lose track of time and bankroll discipline. "spinbit" came up in my recent testing because the fast rounds make it very easy to keep spinning without noticing how long you’ve been playing. I’m starting to think the real challenge isn’t strategy, but knowing when to step away before momentum takes over.

  12. I’ve been paying attention to how my decisions shift during longer betting sessions, and it’s surprising how gradual it is. You start with clear rules, but after a few results your behavior starts to adapt without much thought. While playing on "pokies4bet" I noticed I was slightly increasing stakes after short winning streaks, even though it wasn’t part of my plan. It really made me think about how easily momentum can override discipline.
